Thank you for your interest in one of our dogs! Please visit our website to see which dogs are available, submit an application and get more information. If a dog is posted on the website it is available. Please be sure you indicate which dog(s) you would like to be considered for on your application. If we review your application and feel you could be a potential fit for that dog we will contact you to discuss further.
A helpful hint -- Keep a lookout on our social media for in-person and zoom events- putting a face to a faceless application often increases your chance of getting a match.
Thank you for your interest in adopting!
We are happy to say that all of our rescue dogs have been very well socialized with other dogs while in our care. However, we infrequently have the opportunity to socialize them with cats and cannot make any guarantees in this regard.
We post everything we know about a TrustRescue dog in their bio.
Of course we understand that finding that perfect fit goes beyond just the dog and the people in the household. We want a good fit between other pets in the household as well! Although we always ask that adopters DO NOT bring their current pets when coming to meet one of our rescue dogs.
We are certainly open to placing our fidos with great adopters who live a distance away! However, we do require that the entire household does make the trip on adoption day for the meet with us and the dog.
We mainly adopt to applicants within the tri-state area but we look at applications on a case-by-case basis.
We also want you to be aware that many of the great deals/offers/services included in a TrustRescue adoption ARE available to you but may be difficult or impractical for you to access from a distance.
If you understand and still would like to adopt a dog, then please don’t hesitate to view all our adoptable dogs and submit an adoption application!
It all starts by visiting our website to view all our available dogs and submit an adoption application. Please be sure you indicate which dog(s) you would like to be considered for on your application. Our team will review your app and if we feel you could be the potential fit for that dog, we will contact you to discuss further and plan a meet.
We do require that the entire household is present for the meet so that we can make sure it is a good fit for everyone involved! Sometimes these meets are on the same Saturday that the dog arrives to NJ on the transport van with many others. Or it may be a meet planned outside of our adoption events if the dog is already in NJ with one of our fosters.
When you and your family are lined up to meet one of our dogs, we go into the meet with the expectation that you are ready to adopt and take the dog home that same day if and only if we all feel it is a perfect fit.
Trust Rescue is not a shelter, nor do we operate or maintain a kennel. We are a mostly volunteer, foster-based rescue community. This means that our volunteers are all over the New Jersey/Pennsylvania area and foster our dogs in their own homes. Although we do not operate or maintain a shelter or kennels, we are lucky to have a place were we perform meets and greets, host adoption events, and train volunteers. We also have zoom events where we can meet you and you can meet available dogs. Please follow us on our social media platforms to find out where we will be. Our adoption events take place at our HQ at 816 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ 08004.
Trust Rescue conducts 4Dx testing on all dogs over 4 months old. If a dog tests positive, Trust Rescue treats the infection prior to adoption. It is very important that you continue to administer monthly heartworm preventatives (this is true for all dogs, not only those who were previously treated). All dogs should be heartworm tested on each succeeding 12 month anniversary post-adoption as part of their wellness exams.
We do not bring heartworm positive dogs to NJ. Instead, we ensure that all heartworm positive dogs receive full treatment before adoption. This treatment is provided in their original location, and once completed, the dogs are considered healthy and ready for adoption.
If you have a question and we do not respond, that will mean we have already listed the answer to your question in our FAQ's here.
Unfortunately, we are not staffed to respond to questions whose answers are readily available on our FAQ's.
We also are not staffed to respond to the many lovely emails we get letting us know you are interested in a a particular dog. Please express your interest by submitting an application
Thank you for your understanding.
Absolutely not! Just make sure to put you are first time pet owners in the part of our application that is for vet information, and you're set! Knowing you are first time dog owners helps us get it right for you and your new pup.
The short answer is no, we do not. We are certainly open to adopting our dogs out to great adopters who live a distance away! However, the only place we transport our dogs to is our facility in Atco, NJ; we will not transport dogs to any other locations. We will not set up meets anywhere except at this location.
If you are selected for a meet, you must travel to us. We also do require that the entire household make the trip.
We also want you to be aware that many of the great deals/offers/services included in a Trust Rescue adoption ARE available to you but may be difficult or impractical for you to access from a distance.
If you understand and still would like to adopt a dog, then please don’t hesitate to view all our adoptable dogs and submit an adoption application!
Only the person that would have the dog and own the dog as theirs in their residence is allowed to apply for one of our dogs. Your family member/client would need to apply themselves and be fully aware and involved in the process, and present at all stages of the process from start to finish.

Our dogs are strictly companion animals. Nevertheless, some may be suitable as service dogs. We will NOT adopt any dog directly to an applicant as a service dog. We will, however, work with helping agencies who specilaize in training and placement of service dogs.
Please talk to your local helping agencies who can help you with this as we do not have the necessary expertise to assist
We DO NOT require ANY fee to apply for one of our pups.
Spay/Neuter, Up to date on shots, Free Microchip (owner registers for a nominal fee), Heartworm Tested, Heartworm Prevention**, Flea and Tick Prevention, Partially tax deductible 501(c)3, A lifetime of cuddles from your Fido
** Heartworm Positive Dogs- Trust Rescue treats HW positive dogs prior to adoption. If your dog (4 months or older) breaks with heartworm after 4 months post the recorded negative 4DX test conducted by TRUST RESCUE , TR will not be responsible.
Yes. You must be at least 24 years old to adopt from Trust Rescue
Unfortunately, no. There are many reasons for this. The first is that we are not insured for any unlikely events involving non-TrustRescue pets.
Second, trying to determine whether or not your pet and your potential new addition get along when they are both in unfamiliar surroundings with a WHOLE LOT of activity going on around them is not a good or realistic indicator of compatibility.
If you arrive with a pet in your car, we unfortunately, will ask you to leave.
Although PetSmart allows customers to bring their dogs into their stores, Trust Rescue's Policy is that we do not offer meets between our dogs and an adopter's dog.
Trust Rescue looks at every single application individually, taking many factors into account. This determines our initial assessment. However, this may change once we meet you in person.
