Adopting a dog is a big commitment, and you can trust us to help you through the adoption process.
You must apply online to adopt an available dog or to become pre-approved.
Option 1: Available Dog Application
You will be contacted via text by an adoption counselor if approved for your choice.
Option 2: Pre-Approval
You can apply with a general application form that is not attached to any dog so you can be pre-approved. will be informed via email and will remain approved for 6 months. You can email the adoption counselor at trustrescue.adopt@gmail.com when you want to adopt a dog seen on our website. Apply for Pre-Approval Here
Please note: All of our TrustRescue dogs live in foster homes and are not housed at the Trust HQ! The only way to meet our dogs in person is by registering to adopt and scheduling a meet, or by coming to an upcoming adoption event.

At Trust Rescue, our adoption process is a bit unconventional, but designed to make finding your new furry friend as smooth and efficient as possible. We offer four ways to adopt with us:

1. On-Site Adoption
Attend one of our events, complete an application on the spot, and hopefully, get approved instantly. Take your new dog home the same day!
​
2. Meet-and-Greet Adoption
Choose a dog from our online profiles on our website. Work with an adoption counselor at an event or remotely, hopefully leading to scheduling a meet-and-greet with a dog as they arrive in NJ. If it's love at first sight, take your new furry friend home!

3. Social Media Adoption
Discover a dog on our social media channels, apply online through their profile on our website , and schedule a meet-and-greet with an adoption counselor. The dog will already be in an NJ foster home, Petco, or at our Trust HQ facility, making the process even faster . The meet and greet will take place either on a Wednesday in a Petsmart or Petco. Or at our facility.

4. Pre-Approval
Get ahead of the game by completing a general application and becoming pre-approved! Your registration is valid for 6 months, allowing you to fast-track your interest in a specific dog.

Why Pre-Approval?
We strongly encourage pre-registration, as it gives you a head start in the adoption process. As a pre-approved adopter, you can email us to schedule a meeting with a dog that you qualify for as soon as you see one you're interested in. If you wait to register until you see a specific dog, they might be adopted before your registration is complete.
By pre-registering, you'll be able to act quickly when you find the perfect furry companion. Don't miss out on your chance to bring home a new best friend!

Make sure that you have reviewed our FAQ below before submitting the general application form to be pre approved. Please note that this registration form is the first step in the process.
Our adoption"Trustee" team will be in touch about what comes next within a few days. And will let you know when you are fully pre approved to adopt. At that point, you can start setting up adoption meetings with our dogs!
Please expect 1 to 2 weeks from the time your initial registration has been submitted online before you are fully registered as pre approved to adopt with us.
