Become a Life-Saving Foster Parent with Us!
As a trusted foster-based rescue without a physical overnight facility, our capacity to save dogs relies entirely on our wonderful, trustworthy foster parents.
By joining our family, you'll personally save the life of a dog in need, creating space for another dog to be rescued from the street or harm's way.
Our Foster Parent Support System:

- Basic supplies provided to get you started.
- Personalized mentorship: you'll be paired with an experienced, trusted mentor for guidance and support.
- Online community: join our supportive network of foster parents who become like family, built on trust and compassion.
Fostering a Wider Range of Dogs:
For those who want to make an even greater impact, we provide everything needed to care for:
- A Mom and her pups.

Give Love, Change Lives
Every dog deserves a loving home!
As a Foster Volunteer, you’ll become a crucial part of our mission to rescue and care for dogs in need. By opening your heart and home, you’ll provide a safe, loving environment for dogs while they await their forever families. Fostering is an incredibly rewarding experience!
How Fostering Works
Step 1: Apply
Review our FAQ's before registering below. Once you've applied, we'll reach out to you by text message. You'll receive an orientation video. Once complete, we will schedule a welcome with our foster team coordinator when you come to Trust HQ. Keep an eye on the junk/ spam folder, so you don't miss our notifications!
Step 2: Schedule
Once fully registered, we'll send you instructions to access the foster WhatsApp chat and the spreadsheet we have where you will provide us with your preferences and availability. If anything changes on your end, just update your information to keep us in the know. Foster dogs have an average length of stay of 7 days. You can, of course, keep them longer if they require a foster for longer, but we never expect our foster families to continue for more than 7 days at a time.
Step 3: Foster Match
Our Texas transports occur around every 2 to 5 weeks and we take other local dogs on a rolling basis. You will indicate interest in fostering specific types of dogs on the spreadsheet we provide you when talking with our foster lead. We will assign you a foster dog the week of transport based on your preferences and availability.
Step 4: The Fun Part!
Once you confirm, all the information you need from week to week will be posted within the foster whatsapp communication chat. After picking up your dog, you'll have the full support of your Mentor and of course the whole foster team. Your Mentor will help with any questions or concerns that arrive during your time with your foster dog.
Step 5: The Send Off
The majority of our fosters are expected to bring their pups to and from our adoption event every Saturday, helping make sure that our dogs have every opportunity to find their forever home. Goodbye is the goal, and being part of a dog's journey is the ultimate rewarding experience.

What to expect fostering for Trust Rescue
Getting Assigned Your Foster Dog
As a registered foster parent, you'll have access to a spreadsheet where you can sign up to foster. Our team will match you with a dog based on your preferences, including age and breed size. Our goal is to find the perfect foster home for each dog in need.

What to Expect from Your Foster Dog

While we can't predict a dog's behavior or training level with certainty, your foster mentor will be there to guide you every step of the way. Our dogs come from shelters and facilities in Texas, so it's essential to be flexible and patient.

Essential Supplies

You'll need to have the following supplies on hand:
- Crate
- Food
- Treats
- Toys
- Pee pads
- Poop bags
You can borrow these supplies from us, including pens, bedding, and water bowls, while supplies last. Please return any unused supplies at the end of the week when you bring your foster dog to Trust Rescue HQ for the weekly adoption event.
Adoption Timeline
The adoption process varies depending on the dog's age, medical, and behavioral status. Most dogs get adopted within 1-3 weeks. Please note that not all adoptable dogs may be listed on our website at the same time.
Veterinary Care
All Trust Rescue dogs receive comprehensive veterinary care, including basic oral medications, deworming, monthly preventatives, and antibiotics. If your foster dog needs to visit the vet, we'll schedule an appointment with the vet of our choice.
All veterinary care must be approved by Trust Rescue staff, and unapproved appointments will not be covered.
Support and Guidance
Your foster mentor will be available to answer any questions and provide guidance throughout the fostering process. We're committed to supporting you and your foster dog every step of the way.
